Scientific American App Reviews

Lame

Every time I open this app, its forgotten my subscription to Scientific American and it wants to charge me for the next issue. Fortunately, the magazine is better than this clumsy app.

Sluggish

Quite sluggish interface, downloads are awe fully slow and seem to not recover from where they stop when are interrupted. Bad experience, better get the PDF and read that.

One of the worst

This is one of the worst. Signing in on your various devices is the worst in the industry. Dont buy digital access as access is difficult and at times impossible.

Excellent e-Mag | App More Stable

The Scientific American e-magazine is outstanding. It is much better than the print version due to its use of multi-media material. I have had periodic syncing and login issues, but these have become rarer and rarer. This is the only reason I give it four, rather than five stars. Content is exceptional.

Poor

Sciam is great. Come on folks, straighten this App out.

Outstanding Science Source and App

Scientific American captures the essence of current science and scientific thinking and delivers it in a manner that is both readily accessible and fantastically interesting! Regarding accessibility, I particularly like that the magazine continually works to improve the apps ease of use and performance, which after all is science in action. Excellent!

Good enough

It does the job. Pretty good flow when youre reading. Seems well thought out from a user perspective. Nothing earth-shattering, just lets me feed my head with neat science.

App Doesnt Remember My Subscription

I like the readability of the app BUT every month it forgets my subscription and its a major hassle to get the new issue.

Fine magazine and website

Having the website is a special perk that adds quality to an outstanding scientific journal.

Scientific American

Great content but NOT friendly to aging population. Ive made several contacts requesting larger fonts (for "info boxes" especially) and to NOT use dark fonts on dark backgrounds. Never had the courtesy of a reply. Complaining because now that, as a retired scientist, I have time to read SA, cant always enjoy full content.

0, ""ZERO"" stars

Have subscrip. Yet wants me to purchase every new issue when it becomes avail.$6.99 button but no download button. Does designer get a bonus every time a paid subscriber pays that "EXTRA" $6.99? Apple please give us a zero or negative star rating option.

Greatest source of scientific information

If you like to know the latest in the science world, this must be in your portfolio of sources for current, accurate and understandable information. I cant wait for each issue to be released.

Forgets logins

If you can get the content to display the app is pretty good. The problem is that it always forgets my login information so I have to look it up every time I use the app.

Problematic.

I am a subscriber, why am I required to pay to download issues? I emailed SA weeks ago and they havent bothered responding...

Doesnt work

I have an account, but the app wont let me sign in on any device. Its been saying "were having technical issues" for two weeks.

Scam

They will not allow you to see the issues and there is no way to logon. This is a scam dont fall for it

Support dont work

I left waiting 15 days for a support request about access to my digital subscription. Until today no answers.

Great magazine, terrible app

I have been reading SciAm for 40 years - best publication I have ever read. The iPad app, however is terrible. Two biggest issues: 1) the app frequently fails to recognize my active subscription, 2) it is too easy to mistakenly flip pages and when I return to the article I was reading the article is positioned at the beginning. All other periodicals I view do a better job of maintaining context

App doesnt recognize subscriptions

This app does not recognize that I have a subscription, so it charges me for all issues from previous months that I have subscribed. It is nearly pointless having it, if I want an article from a specific issue or see what is in it.

It does not store login info

Love magazine and app...after finally logging in for the umpteenth time. Why does the app not store login name and password? Getting around the subscribing procedure again is NOT intuitive at all. Please enter the app age and store login and psd info in app. I get frustrated every month of jumping through arcane hoops.
